VGM Is Bad For You is a video game music theory / video game music analysis blog started in order to really dig into video game soundtracks and see what makes them tick. This can be useful, both to composers wanting to learn compositional tricks and novel song forms, and also to interested enthusiasts wanting to see how some of their favorite game music is constructed.
It also is meant to try to add to the ammunition against the depressingly widespread view that video game compositions do not count as serious musical artifacts; there are many video game composers past and present that are just as stylistically diverse, innovative and talented as composers working in any other medium, and should be appreciated as such. Hopefully this blog helps with mending that misconception.
